Over 24 million adults across Africa are currently living with diabetes—a number projected to more than double by 2045. More than 72% of those cases remain undiagnosed—the highest proportion of any region in the world. Not because the disease isn’t there. Because the conversation isn’t happening loudly enough.
One of our founding partners lives with Type 1 diabetes and has experienced its complications firsthand. That’s where this is personal. That’s why Villa Monticello actively supports diabetes awareness and education across the continent. Not as a campaign. Not as a checkbox. Because understanding this condition saves lives. Early detection, proper management, informed communities. We champion the conversation that too many are still afraid to start—and we’ll keep championing it.
The Lady is an initiative that believes in women before the world catches up. A programme built to equip young women with what they actually need to navigate life—financial literacy, career development, managing relationships, understanding their worth. The fundamentals that are somehow still going untaught.
Villa Monticello supports The Lady through active participation—and we are proud to have funded our first educational scholarship for a young woman who completed her apprenticeship. One girl whose door just got a little wider open. The first of many. Because when you invest in a young woman’s future, the returns go far beyond her.
